Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
Ba Dinh Square

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum

On breezy Ba Dinh Square, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum stands solemn – a place where people from all over Vietnam and the world come to pay their respects.

  • Time needed: 1–2 hours for the whole complex
  • Best time: Morning
  • Hours & tickets: Check before you go

Every morning, visitors quietly queue to enter the mausoleum. The solemn atmosphere, the green trees and the wide lawns of Ba Dinh Square make everyone slow down. Around the mausoleum lies a whole historical complex: the Presidential Palace, Uncle Ho’s stilt house, the fish pond and the One Pillar Pagoda.

If you can, get up very early to watch the flag-raising ceremony, or stay until late afternoon for the flag-lowering on the square. These are moving moments that many people hope to witness at least once in Hanoi.

Getting there

About 10 minutes by car from the Old Quarter.

Tips

Opening times change with the seasons and the mausoleum closes for maintenance at certain times, so check before you go. Dress modestly, take off your hat and keep quiet inside.
